March is Social Work Awareness Month, and this year’s theme, "Social Work: Compassion + Action," highlights the essential role social workers play in helping children thrive. At Pediatric POST, our social worker provides neuroaffirming, inclusive, and strength-based support that benefits all children.
Every child navigates challenges in their own way, and social work in pediatric therapy helps provide the tools they need to succeed. Our social worker focuses on:
✅ Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills – Learning to recognize, express, and manage big feelings is a critical life skill. Our social worker helps children develop individualized strategies that work for their unique needs.
✅ Building Social Confidence – Whether a child struggles with social anxiety, understanding social cues, or making friends, social work provides guidance to help them form meaningful connections in a way that feels natural and comfortable.
✅ Navigating Transitions & Change – From starting school to adjusting to new routines, big transitions can feel overwhelming for any child. Social workers offer structure and support to help kids adapt with confidence.
✅ Supporting Executive Functioning – Many children—especially those with ADHD, Autism, or anxiety—benefit from strategies that improve organization, focus, and flexibility in daily life.
✅ Encouraging Self-Advocacy & Independence – Social work helps children recognize their own strengths, build self-esteem, and advocate for their needs in school, at home, and with peers.
This summer, we’re launching Cool, Calm & Connected (CCC)—a social-emotional summer camp for kids who benefit from structured, supportive social experiences. Led by our social worker, CCC is designed to help kids develop:
✨ Emotional regulation & self-awareness
✨ Social connection & teamwork
✨ Sensory-friendly strategies
✨ Confidence in navigating social situations
CCC is perfect for neurodivergent children who need a low-pressure, neuroaffirming environment, but also benefits any child looking to build social-emotional skills in a fun, inclusive setting!
At Pediatric POST, we believe social work helps all children thrive by empowering them with the skills, strategies, and support they need to navigate the world with confidence. This Social Work Awareness Month, we celebrate the incredible impact social workers have on children, families, and communities!
